Rioran Mission Briefing
Situation Update:
The planet of Galio joined the Rioran Empire 8 years ago after a 2-year war. Historical details can be found in the Rioran Public Records. Only one member of the royal family survived, Prince Garrett, who is approved to engage in arena combat every seven days or fewer.
Prince Garrett remains a key figure in understanding Galio. Compliance has ensured his continued survival and the survival of his people.
Our illustrious Rioran Empire is home to 63 member planets, of which Galio is the most recent. It has been in existence for 539 years, ever since the First Five planets were united under the unswerving leadership of King Tyristore, who continues to lead us in peace and prosperity to this day.
Elites of pure blood from the planet Rior are entrusted with leadership responsibilities throughout the Empire, and loyal members of the Empire are considered Riorans and citizens. There are also residents of the Empire who have yet to prove their loyalty, common on new or rebellious planets such as Galio who have yet to appreciate life in the Rioran Empire.
You are encouraged to discover more of the Empire’s history through your own exploration and interaction with elites, citizens, and residents.
This site is owned and operated by the Rioran Observer, the Empire’s finest news outlet and preferred news source of Rioran elites. The Observer recently acquired Anne Winchell to be the new Narrative Designer. Her current project is entitled “The Conquered Princes,” still awaiting final Watcher approval. Nonetheless, the Observer has released the first three chapters of the novel, available in the Rioran Public Records.
Your visitor classification is pending approval by the Watchers. Different classification levels receive clearance to different levels of information. Any suspicion of engaging with Disloyalists may result in your clearance being revoked.
Objective:
Your goal in Galio is simple: learn as much as you can about the Galion people in order to better understand how to defeat them should they cross a line. Be on the lookout for Disloyalists at all times. The more you know about Galio, the safer you’ll be. Keep in mind that Galio is a dangerous location, so be on the lookout for anything that doesn’t look quite right or doesn’t fit. Exploration is an advantage. Pay attention to the details. It may save your life.
Resources:
King Tyristore and the Rioran Observer have generously provided resources for all citizens of the Rioran Empire, elite or not. You have access to much of the information, though some may require a loyalty test to determine if you can continue. In addition, you have access to the following:
- People of Interest: This database provides information about several key figures in Galio, including Disloyalists. Uing this database can help you identify threats and recognize allies. Be warned: visits to these profiles are tracked within a single session. Repeated visits of certain profiles may attract the attention of the Watchers.
- Media Center: The Rioran Observer presents some of its most prized broadcasts, including video, audio, and written texts. The latest exhibition is of the books of new Narrative Designer Anne Winchell. Be warned: this page is often… unstable. Continuing past a certain point is not advised.
- The Rioran Combat Arena: The illustrious Fighters Guild and Handlers Guild have bases on Galio, making it one of the rare planets to be able to fully host championships without the need for interstellar travel. The latest champions are available for interview, granted guild approval.
- Public Records: One of the most elegant buildings in Galio, second only to the Rioran Combat Arena, the Rioran Public Records holds sanctioned accounts of historical events as well as the first three chapters of Anne Winchell’s “The Conquered Prince.”
- Our excellent staff of journalists and experts: the Rioran Observer’s own Vizhian Yarl, having worked her way up the ranks of the past 8 years, specializes in breaking news on Galio; Tanja Vintshxen, of the Callisto Times, brings a positive perspective on events of interest to the broader Empire; and of course Lathrec Orynez, the Rioran Observer’s prized sports analyst, providing all the updates on arena combat. Together, this team will provide you with all the information you need.
Chain of Command:
Should you find yourself in a difficult situation, you have two means of communication. For trouble with the site itself, direct communications to Anne Winchell. If you have any questions, concerns, and especially tips regarding Disloyalists, contact Vizhian Yarl at the Rioran Observer. Both maintain standing within Imperial communications networks.
Rules of Engagement:
- Obey all Rioran elites: they know what’s best for us all.
- Explore freely, but make no illegal attempts to get past security measures.
- Be aware that your movements are tracked.
- Report all Disloyalist sightings or suspicious activity to the Rioran Observer.
- Review “The Conquered Princes,” beginning with Chapter One.
